Yours sees internet sales treble in less than a year

“The growth in our internet sales has been phenomenal. It now generates more business than our top three stores.”
Andrew Killingsworth, Chief Executive, Size Up Clothing Stores Ltd

Yours Clothing – which specialises in “Plus-sized” fashions for 16 to 32 size women – has seen its internet sales triple in less than a year.

Peterborough-based Yours has 38 High Street stores nationwide and a revamped web site – which was launched under 12 months ago.

It is Britain’s third largest Plus sized retailer in the High Street and on-line.

It has stores in the Home Counties, East of England and the Midlands.

Yours Chief Executive, Andrew Killingsworth said:

“The growth in our internet sales has been phenomenal. It now generates more business than our top three stores, we have seen it grow by 340 per cent and we are not even half way near realising its full potential.

There may be some High Street traders out there without a website – but you really need one now and it has got to be a good one.

There is no doubt about it that with the credit crunch and the difficulty in parking in some parts of towns, shopping may be a problem for some people – but it is so easy to sit on the internet - and just shop, we take orders at two and three o’clock in the morning – possibly from people like nurses who work shifts, it is open 24/7 – all the time and shops aren’t.

What you can do on the internet is surf very quickly and see the product on models, along with first class photographs. If a customer is not comfortable with actually shopping in a High Street store – the internet is the answer.

On line is exciting, limitless and it is going to go from strength to strength, if we hadn’t overhauled our website – we would be sitting here thinking “Oh My God – where is the good news. We have shops doing reasonably well in the circumstances – but we have a website that is doing phenomenally well. The two added together makes a very strong business.”

Yours’ new website was developed by the Nottingham-based company Eventure, which guarantees a presence on page one of the search engine.

Andrew Killingsworth said:

“Eventure are a pleased with its success as we are. We did have an earlier web site which was nowhere near as successful.

Bringing in Eventure to create new site has made a tremendous amount of difference. They told us what was possible and they have delivered in every area.

Our on-line sales have trebled.”

Eventure’s sales director, Mark West said:

“Retailers with High Street outlets plus an on-line presence will have a bulletproof asset that is unaffected by the recession.

If companies are getting a fixed number of sales coming through online – that represents an untouchable turnover. It is not going to be affected by a fall in visitor numbers or an increase in overheads like a High Street store.

I can say that for businesses who get it right – no-one is going bust on the web.

The key is getting traffic from search marketing. You may have an amazing looking web site – but it you are not on page one you won’t get the traffic that turn into sales.”

Eventure specialises in offering a compete service which places customers onto page one for high sales traffic searches on Google – as well as developing attractive and easy to use websites.
